STEM Elementary Teacher
About the Role
Talent Vision is partnering with a public charter elementary school in Rochester, NY, to recruit a student-centered STEM Elementary Teacher. The STEM Elementary Teacher will design and deliver inquiry-driven, standards-aligned instruction that integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics across the curriculum. This educator will create hands-on, culturally responsive learning experiences that develop students’ problem-solving, collaboration, and computational thinking skills while supporting strong literacy and numeracy growth for all learners.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned STEM lessons for elementary students that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with grade-level ELA and social studies objectives.
Create and maintain a classroom culture that promotes inquiry, perseverance, collaborative problem solving, intellectual risk-taking, and social-emotional learning.
Design hands-on labs, engineering challenges, and project-based units that incorporate formative assessment, progress monitoring, and performance tasks to measure mastery and growth.
Differentiated instruction for diverse learners, including multilingual students and students with disabilities, using scaffolds, accommodations, and targeted interventions to ensure access and rigor for all students.
Integrate age-appropriate technology, digital tools, and coding experiences to enhance instruction, support data collection, and foster 21st-century skills.
Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education, and English learner specialists to align units, assessments, and supports across classrooms.
Analyze formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction, set growth targets, and implement timely interventions.
Communicate regularly with families about student progress, project work, and ways to support learning at home; facilitate family STEM nights and engagement activities as appropriate.
Participate in professional learning communities, contribute to curriculum development, and share best practices in STEM pedagogy with colleagues.
Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, assessment data, and student documentation in accordance with school and district expectations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in Education, STEM Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field preferred.
Valid state elementary teaching certification preferred; endorsements in STEM, science, math, or technology preferred.
Minimum of 1–3 years of successful elementary classroom teaching experience with demonstrated strength in science and math instruction preferred.
Experience designing project-based learning, engineering challenges, or hands-on science labs, and using inquiry-based instructional approaches.
Strong knowledge of state standards in elementary science and math, formative and summative assessment practices, and strategies for differentiation and inclusion.
Familiarity with age-appropriate educational technology, basic coding platforms, data-collection tools, and digital formative assessments.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills and a commitment to culturally responsive teaching and equitable outcomes for all students.
Ability to manage classroom materials, labs, and safety protocols for hands-on STEM activities.
